sushi and sardines in a can
If I post my happenings here, like the things that happened to me today, can you hear?
As usual, I had a not-so-much-happened kind of day. But to each moment is its own beauty, and there have been plenty little surprises today.
After work, I took the bus to Commerce Gate. A store that sells Japanese dishes was open and I went to look around. And I thought of you.
Then I ran into a friend I hadn't seen since new year.
Then I found myself in Splendid China. I sat at a table at the upper level and marked my students' papers while having a bubble tea.
Then I walked around the corridors, looking into shopwindows.
I sat in the atrium. I saw a girl carefully squirt soy sauce onto her box of sushi, so I decided I was hungry and went to buy some.
Then I sat at the atrium and ate. By this time, I was the only one there.
The chair was comfy.
Then I read the first story of the story anthology I bought today. The anthology came out of a writing contest that happened in Hong Kong back in 2000. Young writers were encouraged to submit stories of under a thousand words. The stories should have to do with 7-Eleven, the convenience store, the sponsor of the contest.
The first story of the anthology is told by a girl who reminisces about the boy by buying canned sardines at 7-Eleven.
