tofu clouds

Gray clouds like a bowl tofu flower. The tofu flower is a direct translation of the name of a Chinese dessert which, in actuality, is a bowl of soft tofu with syrup. Not sure where the flower comes from with regards to the name of the dessert, but yes, the clouds sure look like that today.

A boyish man in a black leather jacket and khaki pants is sitting on a chair outside, smoking, with a bluetooth clipped to his right ear. The bluetooth thing resembles a toenail clipper. He blows smoke, kicks the chair, and comes into the coffee shop, angry at some invisible thing.

The spot outside where he was standing is now occupied by a middle-aged man with a heavy-mug of a face and a boyish haircut, also smoking.

The girl sitting on my right has this pink thing attached to her cell phone. Why is it that girls of considerable attractiveness are more likely to attach things to their cell phones or to the zippers of their pencil cases?

These three characters -- the girl, smoking man number one, and smoking man number two -- I render each of them attractive in their own curious ways, as we pass this afternoon hour in the coffee shop under these tofu clouds.

little bowls of happiness

And what am I to do with these autumn days (even though a day like today still has a summerish feel about it with its sunniness and tint of warmth). And I’m about to write about bubble tea again because I had one today at Chartwell Plaza that is still under renovation.

I had a Korean dinner and the waitress was very cute. That seems to be all that matters for me. And it doesn’t matter anymore whether they have bad habits of their own like biting their nails or eating chips in their bedrooms or not vacuuming their rooms on time. None of that seem to matter. None of that come to my mind. I just think, yes, she is very cute and it makes all the things so pleasant for the duration of my stay in that space while I eat my rice.

One thing about Korean meals is that they come with little bowls of appetizers. Having lots of this and that all over the table is a kind of happiness in itself.
